As a tourist from Detroit, we were very pleasantly surprised when we happened upon the Blue Iguana! The ceviche was excellent and we all wished we had ordered it as our meal! But then our meals came out and they were fantastic also! A little heavy handed on the citrus, but our group LOVED it! The only thing bad I could say is that we are disappointed that it's so far away from home, I would eat at the Blue Iguana at least once a week!

Don't miss this little gem! Fabulously fresh authentic Mexican food. The entire atmosphere of this town is so refreshing and alive. You can dine inside, out front on the patio or out back on the deck as you watch the tugboats or the beautiful Twilight steam boat glide down the Mississippi river.

My wife and I were in Le Claire today when lunch time rolled around, and I suggested Blue Iguana because it was open and convenient and had Cinco de Mayo specials (this was on May 3rd). We had no idea if the food would be good or just a "Americanized watered-down Chain" Mexican place. WOW - what luck! We've eaten at a LOT of Mexican restaurants, many "claiming" to be authentic, and Blue Iguana is BY FAR the BEST of the BEST! Their Salsa and Salsa Verde should win awards! We shared a Taco Salad with Pollo (chicken) and Elote (Mexican corn) and 2 Mexican beers, and rolled out the door stuffed to the gills. The portions were large, and ONE TASTE confirmed that all the food was delicious and fresh and NOT "out of a jar". Even the chips were tasty and crisp, not bland and tasteless like some places. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and even though we sat on the outside deck so we could watch the flood waters of the Mississippi on a chilly and somewhat brisk day, Javier was there to attend to our every need, even helping us take a picture for Face Book. We live about 100 miles from Le Claire, but I assure you that WE WILL RETURN to that quaint town AND Blue Iguana!
